The company was launched in 2005 based on award-winning research at Oxford University. It now has offices in Bangalore and has biofuel plantation site in rural Maharashtra in Beed District.
The vision of CleanStar is to have an integrated distributed biofuels company that was both financially and environmentally sustainable. CleanStar was also recognized in 2006 as one of the top 10 sustainable New Ventures in India by the World Resources Institute (Washington), USAID and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).CleanStar Energy has more than 10 years of field experience in biofuel plantation, maintenance and pest management of biofuel trees like Pongamia Pinnata and others like Jatropha Curcas trees. CleanStar Energy has invested & purchased its own marginal land of 30 acres in rural Maharashtra in Beed district.
